The postdoctoral researcher will work on a sponsored project related to energy storage and flow batteries. The position has great networking and mentoring opportunity as the project is highly collaborative.

 

Case Western Reserve University, Department of Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering is seeking a qualified candidate to fill a postdoctoral fellow position. This is a one-year appointment with the possibility of renewing for an additional year. [Definitions of postdoctoral fellows and scholars.]

 

Responsibilities and Duties:

1.     Perform 40 hrs of research per week: combination of laboratory work including carrying out of experiments, equipment training and maintenance; analyzing data

2.     Training PhD students, undergraduate researchers, and high school students on research methods

3.     Writing reports, manuscript, and project reports; attending project meetings and presenting research updates

4.     Attend a professional society conference at least once a year

 

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

·       Doctorate in Chemical Engineering or related field.

·       3 to 4 years of research experience in separations and expertise with membrane fabrication and testing

·       Experience a plus: ionic liquids, deep eutectic solvents, polymer synthesis, membrane related composites

·       Desirable skills: spectroscopy techniques (NMR including DOSY/NOSY/NOE, 2D, PFG); FTIR; Raman; UV-Vis), Thermal analysis (TGA, DSC), isotherm measurements, ICP-OES, BET, familiarity with microscopy imaging, SEM, XPS, XRD

·       Proven track record in high quality publications

·       Excellent written and oral communication skills necessary.

·       Enthusiasm in research, willingness to work with others, and interest in mentorship

·       Must be eligible to work in the United States.
