Job Purpose and Impact

The Merchant will handle a moderately complex customer base and fulfill transactions delivering cattle hides that meet customer expectations in terms of timing, volume, quantity and terms. In this role, you will work closely with the merchant manager and business manager of the hides team to ensure smooth execution of all cattle hides sales transactions. 

Key Accountabilities

 

  • Collaborate with transportation and logistics, international sales reps and credit team to ensure efficient execution of the overall hide position. 
  • Help plan sales through weekly inventory analysis and regular production monotoring. 
  • Enter sales contracts and facilitate the initial scheduling of orders using our inventory management databases and systems.
  • Work closely with Merchant manager to ensure timely and correct payment from our largely international customer base. 
  • Research and analyze various freight opportunities in the marketplace to maximize margin.
  • Work directly with customers, suppliers and business counterparts to meet their needs in solving routine problems and addressing complaints and concerns.
  • Independently solve moderately complex issues with minimal supervision, while escalating more complex issues to appropriate staff.
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS 

 

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field OR equivalent experience
  • Minimum of two years of related work experience
  • Microsoft Office proficiency
