Mō tō mātou rōpū | About the team

Te Kupenga Hauora Māori (TKHM) coordinates teaching in Māori Health across the Faculty of Medical and Health Sciences and externally, spanning foundation, undergraduate and postgraduate education. There is also a focus on building capacity and developing appropriate teaching practices in Māori health throughout the Faculty of Medical and Health Sciences.

Te Whiwhinga mahi | The opportunity

An opportunity is now available to join Te Kupenga Hauora Māori within the Faculty of Medical Health Sciences as a Professional Teaching Fellow or Lecturer. This position will enable you to be part of an internationally recognised programme of Indigenous health teaching and learning.

The role is focused on te reo and te ao Māori teaching as part of the Hauora Māori curriculum in health programmes. It involves teaching, learning and assessment as well as contributing to the development of associated curriculum and educational resources.

Qualifications

He kōrero mōu | About you

Applicants will have a post graduate qualification in a relevant academic discipline as well as experience in te reo teaching, ideally at tertiary level. You will have an understanding of adult learning theory and practice, and experience in development of curricula and educational resources.

Candidates must be flexible with tasks as required for the role, have excellent time management skills with the ability to prioritise as well as excellent oral and written communication skills.

You will have a willingness to learn new skills, develop new competencies and have a commitment to quality and continuous improvement in all work.

Skills required for this role include a high level of proficiency in te reo and tikanga Māori, advanced knowledge of relevant software packages and the ability to develop high quality teaching and learning materials.

The ability to work with minimal supervision and use initiative is crucial, as is working in a culturally safe manner. You will enjoy interacting with a wide range of people as well as working collaboratively in a team.

This is a 0.5 FTE, part time (20 hours per week), fixed term role (Until July 2027). The salary range for this role is between $100,696-$132,495 pro rata (Full time equivalent of 40 hours per week), based on skills and experience.
