We offer a hybrid 3-2 work schedule (three days in the office, two days of teleworking) to accommodate the need for flexibility.

Job Summary

Our Integrated Strategic Planning group focuses on energy market research and analysis with regards to the economics, regulations and policy formulations specific to energy. This analysis is critical to long term planning and strategic decision making. Dominion Energy is committed to providing its customers with reliable, affordable and increasingly clean energy.  The successful candidate will provide valuable analysis used to determine how to meet these commitments.   

 

This posting is for one position that will be filled at the level commensurate with the successful candidates’ education, experience, knowledge, skills and abilities. 

 

Specific job responsibilities include the following: 
This position will assist in performing the modeling and analysis that determines Dominion Energy’s generation growth capital and new infrastructure requirements. The modeling process ensures compliance with applicable laws and regulations while providing reliable, affordable, and increasingly clean energy to Dominion Energy customers over the long term. More specifically, this position will assist in conducting the modeling and analysis to support customers’ needs and benefits in regulatory filings such as the Integrated Resource Plan (IRP) and New Resource / CPCN filings. The position also assists in completing the modeling, financial and strategic analysis related to the Company's capacity resource plan including risk assessment analyses, optimization analysis, rate analysis, and financial implications. This position will also focus on process improvements across the Integrated Strategic Planning group. 

Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities & Experience

Energy Market Analyst: 3-5 years analytical and/or related experience. 
Senior Energy Market Analyst: 5+ years analytical and/or related experience.

 

Specific knowledge, skills, abilities and experience include: 

  • Knowledge of energy markets, financial analysis, utility industry operating terms, generation equipment, environmental regulations, economics, financial statements, utility rates, capacity markets and commodity markets.
  • Financial modeling experience is highly desirable.
  • Demonstrates business acumen and understanding of financial balance sheets, cash flow and risk analysis.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, ability to comprehend and disseminate information to multiple audiences.
  • Ability to develop effective presentations for a variety of audiences and external groups.
  • Ability to handle multiple projects and priorities within specified deadlines.
  • Prior experience with capacity expansion or production cost modeling software such as PLEXOS, Promod, Aurora, Strategist or similar software is preferred.

Education Requirements

Degree or an equivalent combination of education and demonstrated related experience may be accepted in lieu of preferred level of education: Bachelor.

Preferred Disciplines: Finance, Engineering, Economics, Business, Science.
