At GCI, we solve the hard problems. As a COMPSEC Senior Account, a typical day will include the following duties:
The senior accountant maintains the financial records of COMPSEC. They log financial information, process payments, reconcile accounts in multiple systems, and provide financial reporting.
Senior Accountant Duties and Responsibilities Include:
- Provides financial information to management by researching and analyzing accounting data and preparing reports.
- Prepares asset, liability, entries by compiling and analyzing account information.
- Documents financial transactions by entering account information.
- Recommends financial actions by analyzing accounting options.
- Summarizes the current financial status by collecting information and preparing balance sheets profit and loss statements and other reports.
- Substantiates financial transactions by auditing documents.
- Coordinating activities and answering questions.
- Reconciles financial discrepancies by collecting and analyzing account information.
- Secures financial information by completing database backups.
- Maintains financial security by following internal controls.
- Prepares payments by verifying documentation, and requesting disbursements.
- Answers accounting procedure questions by researching and interpreting accounting policy and regulations.
- Complies with federal, state, and local financial legal requirements and use tax payments and advising management on needed actions.
- Prepares special financial reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing account information and trends.
- Maintains customer confidence and protects operations by keeping financial information confidential.
Accountant Job Qualifications and Skills:
Required:
- Follows Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
- Exhibits strong technical accounting knowledge
- Knows how to use popular accounting software
- Demonstrates strong written and verbal communication skills
- Able to work independently and/or as part of an integrated team
- Demonstrates strong customer relationship management skills
Desired:
- Basic knowledge of Costpoint System
- Basic knowledge of Sugar CRM System
- Basic understand of operation of a government reseller operations
Education, Experience:
- A bachelor’s degree in accounting, economics, finance, OR a similar major OR equivalent work experience
- A minimum of five years’ experience in accounting/finance is required

Salary Range: $80,000 - $110,000
