Summary
Integrated planning engineers play a crucial role in managing and enhancing complex systems involved in energy generation, transmission and distribution. These engineers focus on comprehensive planning approaches essential for adapting to the evolving energy landscape, which includes transitioning energy resources, optimizing existing grid infrastructure and enabling distribution technologies and programs to meet customer needs.
The Integrated Planning Engineer will drive the advancement of SRP's integrated system planning capabilities through innovative data-driven solutions. This role combines technical expertise with strategic thinking to enhance system-wide planning. The engineer works across multiple organizations including load forecasting, customer programs, resource planning, transmission planning, distribution planning, and financial planning guiding process alignment, planning analysis, and synthesizing results utilizing analytical tools and models. This role is essential to move toward more efficient integrated system planning, combining technical skills with strategic business needs.
What You'll Do
• Develop and execute the next iteration of the Integrated System Plan, evaluating opportunities to elevate SRP’s integrated system planning capabilities to meet future challenges and SRP’s 2035 Sustainability Goals.
• Lead the continued development of collaborative planning across the organization and advance SRP to the next level of integrated system planning.
• Collaborate on complex projects that require knowledge and expertise in multiple areas across the power system answering key enterprise questions with analysis, critical thinking and a growth mindset.
• Drive other integrated planning efforts such as annual planning efforts for the financial planning cycle, special studies used for decision making, and high priority projects that enhance system-wide planning efforts.
• Apply strategic and analytical skills to develop and implement long-term solutions for power system expansion and modernization, mitigate risks associated with power system planning and operations, and interpret data to make informed decisions.
• Prepare and present results and reports on integrated planning projects in a clear and concise manner to all levels within SRP as well as external stakeholders.
