CLINICAL TRAINING SPECIALIST

Primary Scheduled Hours: 80 hours per pay period
Job Summary: Primarily applies licensed practical nurse knowledge to support the onboarding, ongoing education, and competency development of clinical staff in Residential Care and the Rural Health Clinic. Assists the Clinical Nurse Educator with the Nursing Assistant Certified (NAC) Program and clinical education throughout the district. This is a Training and Staff Development position and does not provide direct patient care; clinical credibility is established through active Washington practical nurse licensure, maintained while practicing within an education and training scope. Supports the NAC Program as a supplemental skills instructor under the direction of the registered nurse program instructor, who retains primary instruction and program accountability. Aligns training support with DNV, CMS Conditions of Participation, and Washington State Department of Health requirements, and NAC training support with Washington State DSHS requirements under WAC 388-112A.
Essential Job Functions:
Clinical Training and Competency Support
- Supports onboarding and orientation of clinical staff in Residential Care, Assisted Living, and the Rural Health Clinic.
- Delivers and coordinates skills training, in-services, and competency refreshers for these clinical teams.
- Assists with skills validation and competency check-offs for clinical staff under appropriate clinical direction.
- Maintains and tracks training and competency records in the learning management system (Absorb).
- Serves as a resource to clinical teams on required training, course assignments, and skills standards.
- Identifies training gaps and recommends content or refreshers to the Clinical Nurse Educator and the Training and Development Manager.
NAC Program Training Support
- Assists the Clinical Nurse Educator with NAC skills-lab demonstrations and learner return-demonstration under the direction of the registered nurse program instructor.
- Supports competency check-offs and maintains accurate skills evaluation documentation.
- Prepares lab equipment, supplies, and instructional materials for skills sessions.
- Provides the Clinical Nurse Educator with feedback on learner skills performance and readiness.
- Serves as a supplemental skills instructor only; primary NAC instruction and program accountability remain with the registered nurse program instructor.
Patient Safety and Quality
- Treats patients, residents, and staff with respect and dignity; maintains confidentiality.
- Supports clinical training that optimizes patient safety and reduces the likelihood of medical and health care errors.
- Supports and maintains a culture of safety and quality.
- Routes training-related safety events through Healthcare Safety Zone as appropriate.
General
- Demonstrates the ability to be flexible and organized.
- Performs administrative duties as needed, including in-service and orientation record review, monthly clinical education planning, and equipment ordering as required for clinical training delivery.
- Does not provide direct patient care; presence in clinical areas is for training, observation, and competency support.
Performs other related duties as assigned
Education Background and Experience Requirements
Minimum Education:
Graduation from a state-approved practical nursing program.
Required Licensure / Certifications:
Current Washington State Licensed Practical Nurse license.
Required Experience:
One year of clinical nursing experience, preferably in long-term care, assisted living, or ambulatory or clinic settings.
Preferred Qualifications:
Prior teaching, precepting, or skills-instruction experience.
Experience supporting NAC or nursing assistant training.

Compensation/How We Care For You:
Successful candidates typically begin between the beginning and midpoint of the compensation range dependent on qualifications/experience and receive compensation in increments increases
