As Director of Operations, Product Life Cycle Management (PLM), you will have high visibility, high-impact role leading post-market program management functions across both operating units. This role will oversee a team of project and program managers focused on driving changes to commercialized products to ensure supply continuity, regulatory compliance, cost optimization, and other business-driven priorities.

A Day in the Life
Responsibilities may include the following and other duties as assigned:

Leadership & Team Development

  • Lead and develop a team of approximately 20 project and program managers, including assignment of work, coaching, mentoring, and career development

  • Define and execute the strategic vision for post-market project and program management, building a best-in-class organization

  • Drive long-term talent development and succession planning initiatives

Post-Market Project Execution

  • Oversee planning, execution, and delivery of complex, cross-functional post-market programs

  • Partner with business unit and functional leaders to ensure projects are appropriately prioritized, resourced, and aligned to business commitments

  • Lead development of post-launch strategies, including geographic expansion, market entry, labeling, and local compliance requirements

  • Manage a portfolio of investments aligned to AOP targets while delivering project outcomes

  • Champion continuous improvement initiatives to enhance efficiency and performance

  • Act as the primary liaison between operating units and GOSC for project intake, funding decisions, resourcing, and execution

  • Ensure all marketed products maintain compliance with global regulatory standards; partner closely with Regulatory Affairs and Quality to mitigate risks and implement corrective actions

Governance & Oversight

  • Establish and manage phase-gate processes for post-market programs

  • Oversee intake and prioritization of new project requests

  • Lead or support governance forums related to released products

  • Collaborate cross-functionally to address challenges related to product continuity, funding, execution, and staffing

  • Maintain clear and consistent communication with stakeholders to ensure business needs are effectively met

Location: Rice Creek East/Fridley, MN

Onsite: At Medtronic, we bring bold ideas forward with speed and decisiveness to put patients first in everything we do. We’re working onsite 4 days a week to drive performance, foster an environment of belonging, and collaborate to inspire as we engineer the extraordinary. This role will require <25% of travel to enhance collaboration and ensure successful completion of projects.

Minimum Requirements

To be considered for this role, please ensure the minimum requirements are evident on your resume.

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering with minimum of 10 years of experience in PMO, R&D, Engineering, Operations, Quality or Supply Chain and 7+ years of People Management experience,

  • OR advance degree in Engineering with minimum of 8 years of experience in PMO, R&D, Engineering, Operations, Quality or Supply Chain and 7+ years of People Management experience.

Nice to have:

  • Advance degree in Engineering and/or MBA is preferred.

  • 5+ years of experience in manufacturing, operations, or product development within a regulated medical device environment

  • Strong understanding of product design, manufacturing, supply chain, and distribution processes

  • Proven ability to lead and inspire teams, delivering results through others while effectively managing diverse stakeholder relationships

  • Experience managing engineering or project management tea
