About the role

We are seeking an experienced Vice President - Software Engineering to support the modernization and transformation of the Commission Management / Soft Dollar platform within Equities Technology. Commission Management enables clients to manage and allocate commission dollars to research providers and is a strategic revenue-retention and growth area for the business.

In the Technology division, we leverage innovation to build the connections and capabilities that power our Firm, enabling our clients and colleagues to redefine markets and shape the future of our communities. This is a Prin Software Engineering position at the Vice President level, which is part of the job family responsible for developing and maintaining software solutions that support business needs.


The candidate will deliver front-to-back platform enhancements across trade processing, commission allocation, accounting, reporting, analytics, and client servicing, partnering closely with Business, Operations, Product, Finance, and Technology stakeholders.

The role will also support adoption of cloud-native engineering, AI/Generative AI, Snowflake-based data platforms, automation, and modern engineering practices to improve workflows, analytics, operational efficiency, and client experience.

What you’ll do in the role:

  • Lead design, development, and delivery of strategic Commission Management technology solutions.

  • Modernize the platform across cloud, AI, data, microservices, APIs, and event-driven architecture.

  • Partner with Business, Operations, Product, Finance, and Technology stakeholders to deliver scalable solutions.

  • Promote Agile delivery, DevOps, CI/CD, automated testing, production resiliency, and engineering excellence.

  • Balance strategic Change-the-Bank priorities with Run-the-Bank stability and mentor engineers.

What you’ll bring to the role:

  • Enterprise-scale technology delivery experience in Financial Services or Capital Markets.

  • Strong expertise in Java, Spring Boot, REST APIs, microservices, cloud technologies, and event-driven architecture.

  • Experience with AI/Generative AI, Snowflake or modern data platforms, automation, and cloud-native engineering.

  • Strong architecture, stakeholder management, communication, analytical, and delivery leadership skills.

  • Experience delivering business-critical solutions in Agile, cross-functional environments.

  • Java, Spring Boot, REST APIs, Microservices, Event-Driven Architecture, Kafka/MQ, Cloud, AI/Generative AI, Snowflake, Data Engineering, DevOps, CI/CD, Docker, Kubernetes, Agile Delivery, System Architecture, Stakeholder Management, and Technical Leadership.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in Equities, Electronic Trading, Commission Management, Soft Dollar, Research Payments, Prime Brokerage, or related Capital Markets businesses.

  • Exposure to AI/ML, Generative AI, Snowflake, Kafka/MQ, DevOps, CI/CD, Docker, Kubernetes, and modern web technologies.

  • Experience building scalable analytics, reporting, and data-driven platforms with global teams.
