Outpatient Therapist

Position Summary:

The Outpatient Therapist plays a critical role in providing trauma-informed, strengths-based mental health services to children, adolescents, and adults in the Independent Living Program. This position is responsible for conducting clinical assessments, developing individualized treatment plans, and delivering ongoing therapeutic interventions. The therapist serves as a key member of a multidisciplinary team supporting individuals who have experienced significant life challenges, including abuse, neglect, loss, and abandonment.

Role and Responsibilities:

• This person’s job responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:
• Conduct comprehensive biopsychosocial assessments and clinical intakes for all assigned clients.
• Develop individualized, goal-oriented treatment plans in collaboration with clients and caregivers, reviewed and updated regularly to reflect progress and needs.
• Provide individual, family, and group therapy using evidence-based, culturally competent, and trauma-informed approaches.
• Maintain timely and accurate clinical documentation, including session notes, treatment plans, progress reports, and discharge summaries, in accordance with agency and state guidelines.
• Coordinate care with external providers, including schools, physicians, psychiatrists, case managers, and other community resources.
• Attend and actively participate in clinical supervision, case consultations, and interdisciplinary team meetings.
• Integrate the Person-Centered and Trauma-Informed Care models into all therapeutic interactions and planning.
• Coordinate and attend all psychiatric appointments for assigned outpatient clients as applicable.
• Participate in the clinical on-call rotation, responding to crisis situations and providing after-hours support a minimum of one week per month.
• Provide clinical oversight and task supervision for assigned graduate-level interns.
• Report any suspected abuse or neglect in compliance with Florida’s mandatory reporting laws.
• Promptly communicate clinical or safety concerns to supervisory staff and collaborate on appropriate intervention strategies.
• Perform additional duties as assigned by the Clinical Director.

Physical requirements:

Staff must be physically capable of driving an automobile in a safe manner.  Ability to sit and stand for long periods of time as needed.  This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.  Physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle or feel; and reach with hands and arms; able to lift, push or pull up to 25 lbs.
