Job Description
The Senior Vice President (SVP) of Distribution Operations is a strategic leader responsible for overseeing the company’s distribution center operations. This includes managing distribution centers, staffing, OSHA compliance, and the development of scalable distribution capabilities. The SVP has oversight for capacity planning, process improvements, facilities management, and distribution center (DC) operations. This role oversees Receiving, Inventory Control, and Order Fulfillment activities ensuring accuracy and efficiency while fostering strong relationships with clients. The ideal candidate is both a hands-on operator and a forward-thinking strategist who can anticipate challenges and guide the organization through growth. This role reports to the President of the business unit.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Our employees are tasked with delivering excellent business results through the efforts of their teams. These results are achieved by:
Strategic & Operational Leadership
- Develop and execute a strategic plan to advance distribution operation objectives and support business goals.
- Create and implement an operational roadmap across people, processes, and technology.
- Collaborate with IT and Continuous Improvement teams to deploy systems and automation that enhance customer experience and operational efficiency.
- Track and achieve KPIs goals for distribution activities and individual departmental teams.
Distribution & Inventory Management
- Oversee distribution center operations, including productivity optimization, process standardization, and compliance monitoring.
- Manage the scheduling and execution of physical inventories and cycle counts.
- Analyze data and design processes to improve inventory accuracy and team productivity.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Partner with Supply Chain and Order to Cash teams to support business growth
- Partner with Quality & Regulatory teams to ensure high level of compliance
- Provide updates and strategic insights to the executive leadership team.
- Ensure standard operating procedures align to achieve KPIs and cost-effectiveness goals.
PEOPLE LEADER: People leaders must possess both the skills to effectively accomplish these tasks and the emotional intelligence to do so in alignment with our cultural values. In addition to the critical management and leadership tasks listed above, this role also includes the following unique responsibilities:
- Responsible for and oversee their respective department.
- Interview, select and supervise the activities of the department staff; communicate interpret and discuss with team the company policies and procedures.
- Determine job objectives, work methods and performance standards; review performance relative to departmental objectives discussion appraisal with each employee and performance; authorize and communicate salary changes, promotions, transfers, discipline, and discharge and administer all other personnel actions.
