Find your calling at Mercy! Medical Assistants (MA) in the medical office setting supports providers by delivering direct and indirect patient care in a professional, courteous, and efficient manner. The MA may assist with clinical procedures, maintains accurate documentation, and provides administrative support to ensure smooth daily operations. The MA functions within their defined scope of practice (based on office type clinic/HOD), under supervision, and in alignment with Mercy's mission and standards of care. Position Details: Medical Assistant – Floater Location: Specialty Clinics - Washington, MO Schedule: Varies - PRN *New Hire Must Attend Mercy Clinic Academy Medical Assistants support providers by delivering patient care, assisting with clinical procedures, maintaining accurate records, and helping with office operations. They work under supervision and follow Mercy’s standards of care. Responsibilities Room patients and obtain vital signs. Update medical and medication histories. Prepare patients for exams and assist providers during procedures. Perform basic tests such as urine dipsticks, glucose checks, and EKGs (when trained). Document patient care accurately. Reinforce patient education provided by the nurse or provider. Maintain clean, stocked exam rooms. Schedule referrals, tests, and follow-up appointments. Assist with front office duties, including phones, check-in/check-out, and document management. Process insurance authorizations and referrals. Follow safety, infection prevention, and regulatory guidelines. Participate in staff meetings and quality improvement activities. Qualifications Required High school diploma or equivalent. Completion of Mercy MA Clinic Academy training upon hire. Preferred Graduate of an accredited Medical Assistant program. One year of outpatient or ambulatory care experience. BLS certification. Physical Requirements Lift, push, or pull up to 50 lbs. Prolonged standing and walking. Frequent reaching, bending, kneeling, twisting, and squatting. Why Mercy?
