Business Analyst - (Remote, United States)
Vital SoftwareAbout the role
We are looking for a Business Analyst to join our remote-first team, in a US and New Zealand friendly timezone. You will report directly into our Director of Product, but will work closely with our Professional Services Organisation in a truly cross functional role.
This is a full time, permanent position and can be based anywhere within West Coast or Mountain timezones to allow for collaboration with both USA and New Zealand team members. Vital has embraced a remote-first way of working, and you can read more about how we achieve this, here.
Vital's software keeps patients informed during and ER or Hospital visit: AI-powered wait time estimation, human-centered explanation of labs, AI-matched video education, AI-powered medical to English translation, and clear step-by-step instructions on what to do next.
It’s working well. We serve 1M+ patients each year, across over 100 hospitals.
Requirements
Your primary goal is to use numbers to tell a story. To show exactly how much (hopefully positive) impact Vital’s software has had on patient experience scores, online reviews, revenue, safety, quality and other hospital metrics.
You’ll need to work with clients. And be bold enough to push back if their data has gaps, or you need information from them.
You’ll work with product and engineering, to mix customer data with live production data.
You’ll write dashboards, make numbers beautiful, but also understandable. You’ll control for variables, because you care about trying to separate correlation and causation. You’ll be a master at SQL. You’ll use Excel or Google Sheets, but sparingly, because they are one-offs, and not automated tools.
You’ll automate things: like picking up files off an AWS S3 bucket or FTP server automatically. Because we never like doing the same thing twice at Vital. Instead, we write tools. Humans are creative. Make the machines and the code do the work so that you can, you know, actually love your job and it’s not tedious.
In more detail, this job is:
- Half client facing: You'll be responsible for delivering our customer reporting product "Vital - Performance" working alongside our Client Tools Product Manager. This product provides healthcare decision-makers with actionable insight on the performance of their hospital.
- Half technical: You'll be expected to write BI reports mixing live production data + customer data into Mode. This means you need to be a SQL expert more than an Excel pivoter.
- Details oriented (healthcare is like $1.3T, so 1% errors are billions of dollars…the margin matters). Some knowledgeable of healthcare helps: e.g. does this number actually make sense.
- MBA preferred but not required.
- Communication is important, especially in a remote-first team. Much of our work at Vital is asynchronous, so you’ll be expected to meticulously document things, share your work over screen-recordings when live meetings aren’t practical (and the fewer meetings the better).
- Grow your skills! We will provide you with opportunities to grow professionally, and we expect you to contribute positively to our team, tools, and processes.
