PURPOSE OF POSITION:

As the Specialist Software Developer (SAP HCM) you will be responsible for analyzing, developing, testing, implementing and documenting software solutions/applications that will contribute to CPKC's ability to achieve its organizational goals. The Specialist Software Developer will utilize their technology background to help meet departmental service level objectives. Will demonstrate proficiency in providing user support by responding to customer calls and correspondence to ensure customers are well satisfied. Using established analytical skills, assists in troubleshooting and examining systems to identify technical issues and guide to root cause.

 

POSITION ACCOUNTABILITIES:

• Develop applications using existing and emerging technology platforms.
• Design and code application programs; create test transaction and run tests.
• Conduct analysis of organizational needs and goals for the development and implementation of application systems.
• Review, analyze, and modify programming systems, including encoding, testing, debugging and installing for a large-scale system.
• Ensure the operating efficiency of existing application systems.
• Maintain records for the documentation of systems development and revisions.
• Development Standards for SAP Custom Code to be used in design and development.
• Develop Code in ABAP, ABAP OO, Workflow, SQL, IDOC, BAPI, HR Forms and SmartForms.
• Well versed with defining authorization roles.
• Create detailed technical design documentation, code review, test process on standard and custom objects.
• Support ABAP code base in SAP ECC and S4.
• Proactively manages environment and help ensure unplanned outages are reduced/or eliminated by helping provide root cause for issues.
• Rotational On Call support will be required for this position.

 

POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

• Diploma or Degree in Engineering or Computer Science or equivalent experience.
• 5+ years’ of experience of ABAP Development within SAP HCM. 
• 2+ years of experience in unit testing, quality analysis and thorough knowledge of integration testing.
• Experience in requirements analysis and design of technical solutions ranging in scope and size including experience with documenting the technical design of SAP Custom Code.
• Competent at creating development effort estimates using inputs from Functional team and then managing the RICEFW.
• Ability to adjust to changing priorities; managing and communicating interdepartmental and management expectations
• Experience working on implementations with a Mexico component is an asset
• Bilingual in English and Spanish is an asset

Management Conductor Program:

Becoming a qualified conductor or locomotive engineer is the single best way for a management employee to learn the business at CPKC. You may be required to obtain a certification or to maintain your current certification/qualification as a conductor or locomotive engineer.
