The Emerging Technology Engineer – AI Job Description Summary: Are you a transitioning military service member or a military spouse looking for an internship that supports the goal to put health first? During the period of this unpaid internship, you will work with the Medicaid Clinical Services team to ensure interaction between the company and members are optimized.
The Emerging Technology Engineer 1 - AI Intern will assist in analyzing enterprise requirements and applies emerging technologies to support long-term business objectives. This role is responsible for researching, collecting, and disseminating information on new technologies and key learnings across the organization. Assignments are typically straightforward and of moderate complexity.
The Emerging Technology Engineer 1 – AI Intern provides transitioning service members that are eligible to participate in the DoD SkillBridge Internship, or military spouses that are eligible to participate in the Military Spouse Fellowship, with an opportunity to train and work with Humana's Medicaid Team. Job Description Responsibilities of the Emerging Technology Engineer 1 Intern will utilize Humana’s training and engage formerly acquired skillsets to perform the following:
- Research and recommend changes to foundational architecture to support business growth and innovation.
- Support research projects that identify and evaluate emerging technologies with potential enterprise applications.
- Interface with users and staff to assess possible implementation of new technology, aiming to improve existing systems and meet business needs.
- Analyze and research deployment processes and assist in their execution.
- Demonstrate an understanding of professional concepts, standards, regulations, strategies, and operational guidelines relevant to the assigned work area.
- Make decisions regarding personal work approach and priorities, adhering to direction and existing procedures or professional standards, with some interpretation as required.
- Design, develop, and implement cognitive solutions
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams
- Conduct research and analysis

Required Qualifications:
- Transitioning Service Member eligible to participate in SkillBridge or military spouse eligible to participate in the military spouse fellowship.
- Bachelor’s degree in relevant technical discipline.
- Minimum three, (3) years of technical experience.
- Demonstrated passion for contributing to an organization focused on continuously improving consumer experiences.
Additional Information:
- Candidates who are recent graduates and have 0–2 years of experience are encouraged to apply.
- Please note that all work is conducted in the Eastern Time Zone.

The DOD SkillBridge Internship Program provides an opportunity for transitioning military service members to gain civilian work experience with an employer for a period between 90 and 180 days upon approval.
The Military Spouse Fellowship Program connects military spouses with employers offering a variety of professional onsite, field, or remote based opportunities for a period up to 11 weeks.
Networking opportunities will be provided while participating in the Internship or Fellowship.
Due to factors such as location, and/or requirements that cannot be modified, full-time employment is not guaranteed upon completion of the Internship or Fellowship.

Work Schedule: Must be willing to work weekdays 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM Eastern Time
