Senior Back-end Engineer (Python)

As a Senior Back-end Engineer you are not only responsible for delivering high-quality code but also for fostering a culture of excellence, collaboration, and innovation within your team. Your work impacts both the technical quality of the product and the overall user experience.</p><p></p><p><strong>Responsibilities</strong></p><ul><li><p>Work closely with Product Managers, Designers, Stakeholders, and Engineers to deliver solutions our customers will love.</p></li><li><p>Build and maintain reliable, high-performing back-end systems that can handle future growth.</p></li><li><p>Set up and follow best practices like code reviews, monitoring, testing, and modular design to keep things clean and reusable.</p></li><li><p>Create and manage RESTful APIs for connecting front-end and third-party systems.</p></li><li><p>Spot and fix performance issues, including load balancing and server-side caching.</p></li><li><p>Design and manage database schemas, write efficient SQL queries, and implement caching strategies.</p></li><li><p>Troubleshoot and fix software bugs efficiently</p></li></ul><p><strong>Requirements</strong></p><ul><li><p>Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Engineering, or equivalent experience.</p></li><li><p>Minimum 5 years of experience coding with general-purpose languages like Python, PHP, JavaScript, or similar.</p></li><li><p>Hands-on experience with SQL and databases like PostgresDB, MySQL, or others.</p></li><li><p>Knowledge of frameworks and libraries like FastAPI, Pydantic, and SQLAlchemy, with familiarity in tools like Jupyter Notebook, Matplotlib, numpy, pandas, and scipy as a bonus.</p></li><li><p>Experience building containerized applications in cloud environments; AWS experience is a plus.</p></li><li><p>Familiarity with metrics, logging, monitoring, and tracing tools to keep applications running smoothly.</p></li><li><p>Strong communication skills and ability to work well with both technical and non-technical team members.</p></li><li><p>Solid understanding of data structures and algorithms and how to use them effectively in real-world problems.</p><p></p></li></ul><p><strong>Our Tech Stack</strong></p><ul><li><p>Front-end: Vue.js, Pinia, Vite, Tailwind CSS and ECharts</p></li><li><p>Back-end: </p><ul><li><p>PHP, Laravel</p></li><li><p>Python, Fast API</p></li></ul></li><li><p>Infrastructure: AWS, Kafka, Redis, Postgres, Nginx, Envoyer, Docker</p></li><li><p>Other tools: Sentry, Linear, Github, Notion</p></li></ul><p></p><p><strong>Benefits</strong></p><ul><li><p>Top of market salary and a generous equity stake in the company</p></li><li><p>25 paid vacation days per year, but opportunity for more if needed</p></li><li><p>We offer a hybrid work policy: 2 days working from home and 3 days in-office each week</p></li><li><p>Four months parental leave</p></li><li><p>Annual personal development budget</p></li><li><p>We are a global company that meets in person at least once a year</p><p></p></li></ul><h1><strong>Why Scaler?</strong></h1><p>When you join Scaler, you will collaborate with a team of curious, sharp, supportive, and genuinely enthusiastic individuals about Scaler's product and unique value.
