Job Mission 🚀🚀

In the Product Experience product area, we build many of the features that our customers love - from signup and onboarding to the Tibber home screen as well as all the charts and analysis, powered by consumption and behavioral data.

We’re on a quest to find a Senior Backend Engineer for our Product Experience area. You will help us build and maintain parts of our backend, serving the apps and our customers with all the data needed in the apps. The role entails close cooperation with other Backend Engineers, App Engineers, Designers, and Data Scientists within our various product areas. Some of your responsibilities (but not limited to) include:

• Building and maintaining the GraphQL layer between the apps and the backend services
• Bringing new ideas to the table
• Championing your vision of what the system architecture should be
• Pushing for experimentation
• Debugging system-wide effects
• Demoing
• Keeping up with technical developments in the field

You are not expected to juggle all the above at the same time, but you should ideally be a versatile Engineer who thrives in a scale-up environment.

Ability to build, contribute to, and maintain relevant services and tools. You would be a key contributor - a Senior Backend Engineer cooperating closely with other Gateway Engineers. You would be integrating numerous microservices to ensure seamless data flow to the apps.

Engineering contribution. As part of the Engineering culture here at Tibber, we always strive to further develop how we work with everything from tooling to architecture and collaboration. You’re expected to take an active part in that work and those discussions.

Ideally you have ⚡️⚡️

Tech expertise. You thrive designing, building, and maintaining software in technologies like Javascript, Typescript, Node.js, GraphQL. You are comfortable in an AWS and Kubernetes environment and with owning what you built.

Microservices experience. Knowledgeable with a microservices architecture in high throughout cloud environments.

App appreciation. Experience working with a customer-facing mobile app. We don’t expect you to contribute in Kotlin or Swift, but an understanding of how mobile apps work will certainly help.

Adaptability. You should enjoy and understand that some things can't be done proactively. Sometimes you will need to be reactive, as we like to iterate on customer feedback and quite often ship features early to see how they are received.

Industry expertise. Understanding the energy industry is a bonus.
