Position Title:
Senior Payroll Coordinator-Payroll-Mount Sinai Hospital-Full Time-Days
Position Summary:
Performs payroll transactions of his/her responsibility to insure the processing of accurate payroll on time
- Assist in processing Multi-State bi-weekly and weekly payroll
- Responsible for processing exempt and non-exempt regular hours, overtime, and severance payment
- Accurately and timely utilize Oracle to ensure sufficient controls are in place and performed
- Assist employees with timecard input questions
- Will need to effectively communicate payroll situations, from simple to complex, to all levels of staff and management, including senior management, with minimal direct supervision
- Responsible for day to day responses to employees and business units questions via Payroll hotline and Payroll emails
- Ensure all Payroll hotline/Email requests are completed in a professional and timely manner
- Review all paperwork for new hires/terminations/changes entered by HR to ensure employees are paid correctly
- Prepare manual checks as needed between cycles
- Ensure payroll associate data is updated and maintained accurately and timely, including exception items such as retroactive adjustments, garnishments, deductions, etc.
- Will identify and/or participate in the identification of enhancements and process improvements in payroll products, processes and services
- Will participate in year-end activities, reconcile and distribute W-2’s as required.
- Will provide adherence to auditing process/procedure of payroll staff
- Will have a high degree of respect for the confidentiality and sensitivity of payroll
- Be a team player with a strong sense of ownership and commitment to excellence
- Perform other duties as assigned
Education Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, preferred
Experience Requirements:
- Experience with data input and review in Oracle preferred
- Demonstrates ability to express complex payroll situations effectively, both verbally and written
- Demonstrates interpersonal skills
- Demonstrates ability to function effectively in a fast-paced, deadline oriented environment
- Demonstrates proficiency with Microsoft Office applications
- Understanding of payroll reporting requirements while compliant with federal, state, and local payroll laws
