Job Summary
 
This position is responsible for the oversight and provision of behavioral health services and supervision of student interns in assigned locations. This position will be expected to adhere to the NASW Code of Ethics and comply with HIPPA regulations. Reports to the Principal Investigator. 

Primary Duties and Responsibilities  

  1. Manage operations of social work services within Forrest Health’s Family Medicine Residency Clinic (FMRC) to include required documentation and reporting to contract agency and appropriate leadership.
  2. Collaborate with patient care team to identify and connect with patients in need of behavioral health services and provide behavioral health consultation to medical providers.
  3. Assess patient’s progress and future needs, assist patients with adherence to medical treatment plan, and coordinate referrals other community resources as needed.
  4. Provide ethical behavioral health interventions, grief counseling, and support for substance abuse issues to clinic patients.
  5. Utilize evidence-based practices and clinical care management treatment strategies with patients and their families. 
  6. Provide clinical supervision and management of assigned student intern schedule.
  7. Document all patient contacts and communication in compliance with program protocols within the electronic health record.
  8. Performs other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications 
Licensure at the LMSW level. Master’s degree from an accredited college or university in Social Work. At least one year of experience in medical social work. 
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
Knowledge of integrated health practices and models of coordinated care.
  • Demonstrated ability to provide supervision to student interns.
  • Responsible for staying up to date on Continuing Education and professional license (LCSW).
  • Responsible for obtaining and maintaining Professional Liability Insurance.
  • Ability to work on an interdisciplinary team
  • Demonstrate independent judgment in making patient care decisions based on field of expertise.
  • Knowledge of behavioral medicine and evidence based treatments for medical and mental health conditions.
  • Knowledge of common medical diagnoses and psychiatric disorders in child, adolescent and adult populations.
  • Knowledge of growth and development of child/adolescent clients as related to all intellectual, emotional, spiritual, and physical aspects of their development.
  • Knowledge of community resources.
  • Knowledge of cultural diversity.
  • Computer Skills:  Ability to work with the following technologies: Proficiency with PC computer systems and MS Office Suite.
  • Ability to travel across the U.S. Some overnights required.      

Preferred Qualifications  
  • Mississippi LCSW.
  • Post MSW experience in medical social work.
  • Experience in an integrated health setting.
  • Demonstrated ability to provide clinical services in a primary care clinic.
