The COMET contract provides overall management and implementation of ground systems capabilities, flight hardware processing, and launch operations at NASA's Kennedy Space Center (KSC) in Florida. These tasks will support the International Space Station, Ground Systems Development and Operations, and the Space Launch System, Orion Multi-Purpose Crew Vehicle, and Launch Services programs.

 

Responsibilities

Areas of responsibility include, but are not limited to:

·        Perform non-routine and complex inspection assignments involving flight hardware, Ground Support Equipment (GSE), and the manufacturing of flight hardware.

·        Inspect major units, devices, or equipment; validate work performed, tests or experiments.

·        Assist in planning tests to evaluate equipment performance. Analyze and evaluate test results and prepare reports on findings.

·        Demonstrate extensive proficiency within expertise and ability to train less experienced inspectors.

·        Under direction of the engineering staff, apply engineering principles and theories in inspecting, testing, and modify equipment such as machinery.

·        Perform other related duties as assigned.

 

Here's What You'll Need:

 

The candidate must possess a high school diploma or technical equivalent. Eighteen (18) years of experience combined with technical training and certification(s) are required for technical support to aerospace systems and equipment.

Job Requirements

·        Experience using the Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing (GD&T) system is preferred.

·        Candidate must be able to support all shifts, weekends, and overtime.

·        If offered a position, proof of U.S. Citizenship or Legal Permanent Resident/Green Card holder of the United States is required.

 

Physical Requirements

·        Will be required to climb stairs to access equipment for trouble shooting.

·        Will be required to wear hearing protection, eye protection, and other associated personal protective equipment.

·        Position will involve extended periods of sitting or standing.

·        Physical requirements are sitting, walking, standing, extensive use of stairs, and access to remote structures.
