Senior GL Accountant (Commissions)

The Senior Accountant will report to the Accounting Manager and is responsible for the preparation of our financial statements and ensuring they are in compliance with GAAP. This is a challenging, highly visible role that requires problem solving and the ability to record complex transactions.

 

About this roll* (Responsibilities) 

• Responsible for managing and preparing journal entries related to commissions accounting and capitalized contract costs, bonus, benefits, and other accruals.
• Prepare account reconciliations and supporting schedules and analysis
• Analyze the financial statements and identify and explain variances
• Partner with internal departments to ensure accruals are appropriately captured and identify areas for process improvement
• Document processes and procedures and ensure compliance with internal control requirements
• Provide supporting schedules and documentation to internal and external auditors
• Assist in preparation of footnotes and disclosures for the 10-K and 10-Q
• Drive change in the organization through participation in special projects and ad hoc analyses 
• Understand various service/product offerings to ensure proper reporting
• Effectively using accounting knowledge to collaborate with varying levels of employees and management to drive sound business decisions

 

Do you have the right ingredients*? (Requirements)

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance with 3+ years of relevant experience
• Knowledge of general accounting principles (GAAP)
• Knowledge of and experience with SOX
• Proficient in Microsoft Excel
• Ability to learn, adapt and excel in a fast-paced environment
• Strong organizational skills and ability to prioritize various tasks and/or projects
• Attention to detail and goal oriented
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills

 

Special Sauce* (Nice to Haves)

• CPA preferred
• Public accounting experience in a large firm preferred
• Public company experience preferred
• Experience with NetSuite
• Experience with accounting/financial reporting at a SaaS company
• Experience working with ASC 340-40 preferred (costs of obtaining and fulfilling a contract, primarily sales commissions)

The base salary range for this role is listed below. The starting salary will be determined based on skills and experience. In addition to base salary, our total rewards components include cash compensation (overtime, bonus/commissions if eligible), equity, and benefits.Pay Range$81,000—$130,000 USD
