A day in the life.

As our Senior Client Manager on the Employee Health & Benefits team, you’ll actively manage a book of business to ensure each client’s benefit plan needs and goals are met. This involves managing annual benefit enrollment periods and overseeing the transfer of coverage to new vendors, providing first-rate benefit plan communications to clients, resolving day-to-day service issues and concerns, maintaining accurate and up-to-date benefit plan documents, and counseling clients on a wide range of regulatory issues affecting benefit plans. Additionally, you will work with significant autonomy and demonstrate a high degree of competency in the position. Finally, may also help train newer Client Managers, conduct formal training, create new products, or similar functions.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Actively and effectively manages benefit annual enrollment periods and the implementation of plan changes and transfers of coverage.
  • Assists with day-to-day service issues and concerns, such as eligibility, claim and billing issues, and the like.
  • Tracks a large number of open issues, communicates thoroughly with clients and vendors to ensure a common understanding of each issue, where an issue stands at any given time, and ultimately how each issue is resolved.
  • Proactively acts as the key “go to” person for clients when benefit plan issues arise.
  • Provides professional and accurate employee communications to clients, such as annual benefit enrollment period newsletters, PowerPoint presentations, benefit summaries, enrollment forms, etc.
  • Secures and maintains current and up-to-date benefit plan documents including amendments, Summary Plan Descriptions, policies, etc.
  • Thoroughly documents issues so comprehensive client histories are developed and maintained.
  • Works well with clients, leadership, service team members, and others as appropriate, sharing information and communicating clearly and professionally.
  • Consults the sales team and keep them informed of significant concerns and client issues that may arise. 
  • Maintains a strong working knowledge of current benefit plan regulations, such as ERISA, COBRA, etc. so is able to provide sound guidance to clients on these issues.
  • Continuously expands working knowledge of welfare benefit plans and regulatory issues by attending meetings, asking questions, researching regulations, attending seminars, etc.

We’d love to meet you if your professional track record includes these skills:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Extensive knowledge of group insurance (medical, dental, vision, life and disability products)
  • Effective public speaking skills and excellent verbal and written communication skills

These additional qualifications are a plus, but not required to apply:

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, human resources, or health services administration
  • 3-5 years of experience with benefit plans or HR
