What do we need  

Dotmatics is seeking a Backend/Full Stack Engineer with an understanding of basic backend architecture and functional programming languages, such as Java & Java Script, to join our team. You will be responsible for implementing and testing scalable software that meets the needs of the company. Working on groundbreaking Scientific Software products such as LUMA you will have the opportunity to collaborate with wider teams on best practices alongside other developers. 

In this role you will get to 

• Collaborate with the software development team in designing, developing, and implementing high-quality software solutions 
• Contribute to the development of software architecture and design principles for the organization.
• Ensure the scalability, maintainability, and security of software solutions.
• Participate in code reviews. 

We are looking for people who have a bachelor's degree in computer science, Software Engineering, or equivalent working experience and 1 year of experience in software development, with a focus on backend technologies, and can demonstrate strong analytical and problem-solving skills. 

The key skills we are looking for you have a solid working understanding or knowledge of 

• Java or similar programming language (Scala or C#) 
  
• Javascript 
• Asynchronous event processing (Kafka, SQS or similar)
• Automated testing platforms and unit tests.
• SQL Databases (Postgres)
• High-level backend application design
• Scaling applications to process large volumes of data and events
• RESTful and GraphQL APIs.
• Containerization (Docker).
• CI/CD tools, such as Github Actions, and CodePipeline.
• Agile software development methodologies and practices. 

You may also have experience in 

• Databricks 
• React
• Life science research experience
