Overview/Purpose:

 

 

Manages a cohesive approach to the planning and execution of all regulatory, audit and strategic initiatives across the GBM Data Office by partnering internally with all other pillars of the GBM DO and externally with the Enterprise DO, as well as GBM Business Areas and Corporate Functions.

 

What You’ll Do:

 

 

  • Leads and drives a client-driven culture throughout their team to deepen client relationships and leverage broader Bank relationships, systems, and knowledge.
  • Manages the design, development and implementation of data strategies, standards, and procedures to support the GBM while facilitating adherence to the Enterprise Data Governance Policies and Standards.
  • Monitors and responds to regulatory and supervisor exam and audit findings that have data-related and data governance components.
  • Manages the cohesive communication plan across all Enterprise, GBM Global and Regional Committees
  • Propagates Data Literacy and Training across GBM to increase awareness of Data Governance and Management practices and requirements
  • Ensures alignment with GBM Data Risk priorities to ensure that GBM addresses residual data risk through that application of appropriate data standards, data controls, and compensating controls.
  • Supports the GBM data domains with data modeling, process design, identification of critical data elements, authoritative data sources, business requirements/attributes, and technical specifications to foster adherence to Enterprise Data Strategy.
  • Creates an environment in which his/her team pursues effective and efficient operations of his/her respective areas in accordance with Scotiabank’s Values, its Code of Conduct, and the Global Sales Principles, while ensuring the adequacy, adherence to and effectiveness of day-to-day business controls to meet obligations with respect to operational, compliance, AML/ATF/sanctions and conduct risk.
  • Builds a high-performance environment and implements a people strategy that attracts, retains, develops, and motivates their team by fostering an inclusive work environment and using a coaching mindset and behaviors; communicating vison/values/business strategy; and managing succession and development planning for the team.

 

What You’ll Bring:

 

  • Understanding of organizational design and the ability to shape and drive large-scale, cross-functional programs around people, technology, processes, and tools.
  • Experience with strategic influencing and education of cross-functional stakeholders regarding the value of data governance.
  • Experience with data governance, Data Quality and general data management tools and techniques.
  • 8+ years of Data Management related experience (e.g. Data Quality, Metadata, Issue Management, Reference Data, Data Provisioning, etc.)
  • 8+ years in Financial Services
  • Knowledge of US/Canadian financial regulatory environment is preferred
  • Global Banking and Markets experience preferred
  • Degree in IT or Business preferred
