Field Technician II – Mission Critical

The Opportunity
Ulteig is seeking qualified candidates for the position of Field Technician II. A successful candidate will work under technical direction and supervision to complete hardware/network installation and commissioning activities. These include but are not limited to network equipment configuration and installation, site wiring verification, and troubleshooting.
What You'll Do
- Configure, install, test, and troubleshoot network devices that interact with the SCADA system for Mission Critical Clients
- Support installation of hardware configuration and commissioning
- Site checkout, field validation connections, and troubleshoot electrical circuits
- Read and provide feedback on site drawings based on field implementation
- Support troubleshooting for fiber, 120VDC and 24VDC, ethernet cables, and serial communication
- Investigate the causes of site communication problems and hardware issues, make repairs, and/or advise customers on possible solutions.
- Installation of wiring and panels
- Work with project management to specify proper site hardware and networking equipment for specific project applications
- Share knowledge through daily progress reports, site photos, and lessons learned with the internal and external teams
- Coach/train/mentor others on best practices and provide troubleshooting/root cause investigation assistance
- Establish and maintain schedules and provide timely progress reports to internal and external teams
What We Expect from You
- Two-year technical degree and 2+ years of experience
- Field experience working in Mission Critical environments like data center and health care facility management
- Demonstrates proficiency and working knowledge of networking equipment such as managed switches, cabling, and fiber
- Experience with diagnosing electrical issues with a multimeter and testing equipment
- Experience with building and wiring a SCADA server rack
- Familiarity with SCADA development
- Work well under changing deadlines and shifting project scope
- Demonstrates excellent problem solving, troubleshooting, communication, time management, interpersonal and organizational skills
- Present site visit/issues in a group setting and contribute to service development and knowledge (documentation/training tools)
- Ability to understand and trace electrical, network, and fiber drawings
- Experience with Microsoft Software Applications (Word, Excel, Power Point, Access, etc.) and additional software knowledge depending on specialization
- Proficiency in Field/Electrical Safety (Maintain individual inventory and inspect tools/PPE)
- Adaptability to day-of schedule changes, travel requests, and client needs.
- Travel requirements 50+%
- Must have the ability to work permanently in the US.
