Job Summary

We are seeking a compassionate, qualified Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner to join our General Medical Oncology team. The ideal candidate has exceptional internal medicine skills and oncology experience. They will work with a multidisciplinary team providing direct patient care services to patients with various cancer types, including breast, GU, and thoracic. Primary hours will be Monday-Friday day shift with flexibly to meet patient needs.  No evening or weekend call. Job Duties & Responsibilities

  • Promote and maintain high standards of patient care throughout the continuum of cancer diagnosis 
  • Elicit detailed and accurate patient histories and preform complete physical examinations.
  • Order appropriate diagnostic imaging and tests to determine medical and post treatment diagnoses, patient conditions, treatment toxicities.
  • Formulate appropriate treatment plans with critical thinking skills and high-level judgement this includes prescribing appropriate medications.
  • Chart patient progress maintaining detailed and accurate health records
  • Protect patient confidentiality, maintain ethics and abide by North Carolina laws and Duke Health System policies.
  • Participate in clinical research projects.
  • Collaborating, supporting and building strong relationships with supervising and back-up physicians and APP colleagues
  • Participate in education of patients, family members, new staff, students and other learners.
  • Maintain up to date clinical and professional knowledge via approved CME.
