As a Mechanical Engineer for the Collins Aerospace Inserts group, you will be part of an international team of engineers responsible for innovating, designing, and maintaining designs of various galley equipment such as ovens, beverage makers, chillers, and refrigerators.

Reporting to the Engineering Manager, the disciplined and results driven Mechanical Engineer will perform standard engineering assignments usually representing a portion of a larger project. This position selects engineering techniques to solve problems and make design recommendations.

The successful candidate will have excellent communication, decision making, and problem-solving skills. This role is onsite, in Lenexa, KS. This role may be eligible for relocation.

What You Will Do:

  • You will apply standard techniques involving innovations of methodology to provide solutions to problems involving a limited number of variables.
  • You will do 3D modeling and 2D drawing preparation, revision, and release using NX Unigraphics.
  • You will verify regulatory compliance of designs by analytical methods or testing prototypes.
  • You will solve design issues and verify solutions through analysis and test
  • You will evaluate materials and parts for use in new designs including communicating with current and new suppliers.
  • You will operate in a team environment, coordinating with other functional areas such as software, electrical, and manufacturing to providing input to design solutions and participate in design reviews.

What You Will Learn:

  • Experience the full aerospace product lifecycle, from concept through certification and production.
  • Apply industry standards and regulatory requirements to real-world mechanical designs.
  • Build skills in advanced modeling, simulation, and testing tools (CAD, FEA, CFD).
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams across engineering, manufacturing, and quality.
  • Gain exposure to prototyping, design iteration, and reliability engineering practices.

Qualifications You Must Have:

Qualifications We Prefer:

Degree in mechanical engineering.

Experience with hydraulic or pneumatic equipment and system design.

Design mechanical components and assemblies with an emphasis on manufacturability, reliability, and maintainability.

Understanding of electronics, engineering processes, and IT tools.
