Job Description

Position Overview

As the Sr. Benefits Specialist, you will support the Total Rewards team along with internal and external resources that require assistance with day-to-day benefits-related matters for Invenergy’s benefits programs. You will research, analyze, evaluate and support the administration of the Invenergy Benefits plans, to meet the organization’s strategy and goals. The on-site role is located at Invenergy's headquarters in downtown Chicago, IL.

Responsibilities

  • Primary Benefits support for U.S. employees with a heavy focus on leave administration.

  • Support the Open Enrollment sessions

  • Tier two escalation point for employee or manager inquiries via email or by phone

  • Support Wellness programs and other initiatives that best serve the needs of employees and reduce overall plan cost

  • Assist with maintaining Benefit integration files between the Benefit enrollment site, Workday and Benefits carriers

  • Reconcile Benefit vendor invoices with internal enrollment records and submit to accounting for payment; This is required for Domestic and International plans

  • Support HR Operations team members with all Benefits topics

  • Lead the Leave of Absence process

  • Partner with other HR Operations team members when evaluating an employee’s return to work needs

  • Support during New Hire Benefits Orientation sessions

  • Partner with internal and external resources to develop Benefit communication materials

  • Support the Benefits audit process with Payroll each pay period

  • Actively audit and perform updates to employee’s 401(k) accounts as needed

  • Other duties as assigned

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or another related field

  • Minimum of 4-5 years of progressively responsible experience in area of HR, particularly related to Benefits, Compensation, Retirement plans and Leave Administration

  • Knowledge of all applicable state and federal laws: DOL, FLSA, ERISA, EEO, Affirmative Action and ACA

  • Eligible to work in the United States without the need for employer visa sponsorship now or in the future.

Interpersonal Skills

  • Experience working with both Fully and Self-Insured Healthcare plans

  • Experience in leave administration

  • Excellent critical thinking and analytical skills

  • Excellent verbal, written, grammatical and proofreading skills; Ability to pay attention to detail

  • Exceptional customer service skills to employees, internal and external service providers

  • Strong organization, accountability, time-management, and written and oral communication skills

  • Flexible and proactive problem-solver, adept at achieving results in a team-oriented and/or collaborative environment

  • Ability to work independently, collaboratively, and maintain confidentiality
