The Opportunity:
We are currently seeking an accomplished Director of Engineering – Civil Site Design to lead our civil/site design team in our New Albany, Indiana office.
This senior leadership role will oversee the planning, design, and delivery of civil site development projects for both public and private sector clients. Projects include stormwater management, water and wastewater infrastructure, roadway and parking design, grading, erosion control, and construction documentation.
As Director, you will provide strategic and technical leadership for a team of engineers and technicians while serving as the primary point of contact for key clients. You will be responsible for ensuring projects are delivered on schedule, within budget, and to the highest quality standards while supporting business development efforts and expanding PRIME AE’s presence in the region.
This is an excellent opportunity for a licensed Professional Engineer with strong civil design and project leadership experience to step into a highly visible role driving project delivery, team development, and client growth.
What You’ll Do:
In this role, you will lead civil/site engineering operations for the office while overseeing project execution, client engagement, and staff development. You will collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to deliver high-quality site development projects and help grow PRIME AE’s civil engineering practice through strong client relationships and strategic project pursuits.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide leadership and oversight for civil site development planning and design projects from concept through construction.
- Define project scope, schedule, and budget while maintaining quality control throughout the project lifecycle.
- Lead the preparation of engineering proposals, scopes of work, and project budgets.
- Serve as the primary client contact, leading client meetings and maintaining strong relationships.
- Manage and mentor a team of engineers and technicians, assigning workloads and supporting professional development.
- Monitor project progress and financial performance to ensure adherence to schedules, budgets, and contractual agreements.
- Communicate project status and operational performance to executive leadership.
- Oversee coordination with clients, regulatory agencies, and subconsultants for permits, approvals, and jurisdictional reviews.
- Provide technical leadership and guidance on complex civil engineering challenges.
- Support business development initiatives, identifying opportunities and expanding relationships with existing and prospective clients.
- Foster a collaborative and positive team environment through mentorship, coaching, and training.
What You’ll Bring:
- Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering.
- Professional Engineer (PE) license required.
- 10+ years of experience in civil/
