Operations Order OPORD Writer - Exercise Planner

GDIT is seeking qualified candidates for Mission Training Complex Capabilities Support II (MTCCS II) program.  GDIT delivers individual sustainment through collective Mission Command training, Leadership Training / Development, Warfighter Functions (WFF) training, Delta Training, First Person Simulations (Gaming), and constructive simulations supported training.  Technical integration between simulation and C4I systems.  Establish /maintain training and exercise networks.  Accomplish Risk Management Framework Certification and Accreditation security and risk management activities.

HOW AN OPORD WRITER & EXERCISE PLANNER WILL MAKE AN IMPACT:

• Create, evaluate, and refine Army and Joint Operations Plans and Orders for training or simulation driven exercises.

• This role requires a robust combination of analytical, technical and communication skills.

• Develop engaging and complex scenarios that challenge the training audience

• Serves in a mentorship or observer/controller role when requested.

• Gathers observations based on unit actions during the training event and provides input to unit After Action Reviews (AARs).

• Maintains a comprehensive repository of relevant TTPs Responsible for creating higher headquarters OPORDs and, when necessary, may be called on to represent Division or higher headquarters for Brigade and below collective training.

• Perform as a member of the Higher Command Response cell during exercise execution answering formal requests for information from training units.

• Perform other duties as required.

WHAT YOU’LL NEED TO SUCCEED:

• Education: BS/BA; U.S. Army MEL IV qualified or equivalent

• Required Experience: Field Grade Officer, Warrant Officer or Senior NCO; 12+ years of related experience; Joint military experience preferred

• Required Technical Skills: Advanced proficiency with staff planning, OPORD / technical writing/editing and content management in one or more Warfighting Function (WfF); Advanced proficiency with Adobe, SharePoint and MS 365 to include Word, PowerPoint, Excel and Teams. Familiarity with the Joint Event Life Cycle (JELC); Demonstrated understanding of Command and Control Systems (C2IS); Expert knowledge of the Military Decision-Making Process (MDMP); Experience writing Brigade and above OPORDs; Strong understanding of the Operational Environments (OE) utilizing DATE.

• Security Clearance: SECRET clearance required with the ability to obtain TS/SCI

• Required Skills and Abilities: Subject Matter Expert (SME) in one or more WfFs; Technologically proficient; Works well with others; Hard working; Team player; Organized and detail oriented; Critical thinker and problem solver; Superb presentation and communication skills; Ability to manage a voluminous amount of information quickly; Must be able to conduct ongoing research and maintain cutting edge visibility of new and emerging warfighting capabilities and trends.
