Responsible to prepare and deliver cardiac sonography coursework in engaging, innovative, and discipline-appropriate ways that reflect a commitment to success equity, an understanding of culturally responsive teaching, and knowledge of the teaching field. Meets professional standards for faculty in accordance with college policies and procedures.

Program Information

The Sonography Program is comprised of two tracks in which students will earn their Associate of Applied Science, Advanced Technical Certificate, and eligibility for national credentialing examinations in Diagnostic Cardiovascular or Medical-Vascular (including OBGYN) Sonography. Additionally, we offer an Advanced Technical Certificate in Cardiac Sonography for credentialed sonographers seeking formal education in this specialty. The Sonography department is accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP). We offer comprehensive didactic and clinical education with on-campus labs and direct patient care experience in every semester of the program. The program is committed to ensuring our curriculum aligns with industry standards through collaboration with our clinical affiliates and sonography professional organizations.

Principal Responsibilities and Duties

  • Assist in preparing students for all aspects of the Cardiac Sonography profession, with a focus on clinical instruction in the on-campus lab environment.

  • Prepare and teach courses in the field of Cardiac Sonography to a multicultural student population based on the department's approved course learning outcomes, utilizing a variety of instructional strategies appropriate to the needs of community college students and the standards of the discipline.

  • Evaluate student progress and provide clear, timely feedback reflecting program learning outcomes and departmental expectations.

  • Provide teaching and mentoring services to students in a manner which does not discriminate based on race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, national origin, disability, age, protected veteran status, political affiliation, or other protected categories.

  • Remain current in the field through a variety of professional development activities.

  • Perform other related tasks as assigned by the department chair, dean, and/or associate vice chancellor, vice chancellor, executive vice chancellor.

Additional Duties

  • Candidates must be available for in-person instruction 1-2 days per week at our Round Rock Campus.

  • Occasional evening/weekend duties as assigned, such as open lab and outreach events.
