The Corporate Staff Accountant is responsible for preparing journal entries, reconciling balance sheet accounts, supporting period-end close and audit processes, as well as executing other assignments related to accounting operations. The ideal candidate will have public company exposure with experience with financial accounting systems. This is a key position within the corporate accounting group at Amyris. 

Responsibilities:

• Support the accounting team on monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes with journal entries related to accruals, deferrals, reclasses, as well as recurring amortization and intercompany entries into the accounting ledgers. 
• Collaborate with the assigned brand/marketing teams for month end accruals and provide necessary support and analysis to resolve their questions.
• Support the senior accountant on data cleansing prior to the monthly A/P and other accruals.
• Collaborate with A/P on uncleared GRIR transactions on a monthly basis and prepare necessary accounting adjustments
• Review Operating Expense numbers for assigned brands and provide commentary on variances and fluctuations.
• Support on monthly end consolidation efforts.
• Using Blackline, perform balance sheet reconciliations of assigned accounts to analyze the completeness and accuracy of financial accounts.
• Support quarter and year-end audit procedures by preparing requested schedules ad engaging with both internal and external auditors.
• Participate and give input related to process improvement efforts across accounting activities. 

Basic Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Business, or related programs.
• 2+ years of recent experience as an accountant, in a similar role for a public company.
• Familiarity with US GAAP and internal controls / SOX Compliance.
• Hands on experience with an ERP system.
• Experience working independently managing multiple tasks. 

Preferred Qualifications:

• SAP, NetSuite and/or Blackline experience.
• A constant desire to not be satisfied with the Status Quo, but rather to facilitate change through process improvements and automation. 
• Experience in consumer goods or manufacturing industries.
• Excellent organizational and communication skills.
