AVP, Pricing Actuary - Pension Risk Transfer

Job Summary:
We're looking for a highly motivated and detail-oriented AVP, Pricing Actuary to join our Pension Risk Transfer (PRT) team. In this critical role, you'll be responsible for the pricing, underwriting, and execution of PRT transactions, ensuring profitability and alignment with the company’s risk appetite. The ideal candidate will possess strong technical skills, strategic thinking, and a collaborative spirit to help grow and shape our PRT business.
Key Responsibilities:
• Lead pricing and underwriting of pension risk transfer transactions, including data analysis, modeling, assumption setting, and negotiation support
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams including Investments, Legal, Finance, Risk, and Operations to evaluate and execute transactions
• Support the development of pricing strategies that balance competitiveness with profitability and risk management
• Conduct experience studies and support assumption development related to mortality, annuitant behavior, expenses, and other key pricing inputs
• Maintain pricing models and tools to reflect current market conditions and internal pricing strategies
• Prepare and present pricing results and transaction analyses to senior leadership and governance committees
• Stay current on industry trends, competitive landscape, and regulatory developments affecting the PRT market
Qualifications:
• FSA designation
• 10+ years of actuarial experience, with at least 3 years in Pension Risk Transfer, annuities, or related life insurance pricing. Direct PRT pricing experience is preferred.
• Strong analytical, technical, and modeling skills; proficiency in Excel, VBA, and actuarial software (MG-ALFA experience is strongly preferred)
• Demonstrated ability to manage complex projects and meet tight deadlines
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a collaborative mindset
• Familiarity with investment concepts, asset-liability management (ALM), and insurance product economics is a plus
