Essential Duties and Qualifications

The Dietary Cook assists the cook in preparing resident and employee meals under the supervision of the Dining Services Manager/designee.



Essent Job Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Is proficient in the use of the menu tray card system.
  • Ensures when preparing resident meals they are prepared according to the spreadsheet, or recipe so that the dietary needs of each resident are met.
  • Washes dishes and cleans work area, tables, cabinets, carts, and ovens in accordance with infection control standards.
  • Ensures proper storage and handling for all food to include knowledge of proper time, holding temperatures and temperature documentation (HACCP)
  • Ensures adequate quantities of food on hand, monitors inventory.
  • Effectively operates all kitchen appliances.
  • Follows facility cleaning schedule as assigned.
  • Maintains proper cleaning and sanitation of kitchen equipment and area.
  • Complies with all established policies and procedures.
  • Promote and demonstrate positive customer service towards VHS, co-workers, residents, family members and visitors.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
  • Part Time - Full Time

  • Sun-Saturday working days 

  • 7am-7pm working hours

Qualifications and Requirements:

  • Prior food service experience in cooking is preferred, but not required.
  • ServSafe Certified preferred.
