The location of this position is flexible and open to virtual and/or remote based applicants. Individuals located within 35 miles of one of our major offices will need to adhere to our 3-day hybrid schedule.

Join our team and take advantage of our comprehensive 12-week training program, beginning on October 27, 2025 (November 10th if you're already licensed), designed to prepare you for your new sales role. You’ll follow a structured training schedule from Monday to Friday, 8am-4:30pm CT . After training, your permanent hours will be 8am-5:30pm EST, Monday-Friday (no Saturday's!), with the potential of hours expanding to 7pm (in your time zone) at some point. The ideal candidate will have the following skillset:

  • Proficient in using various digital tools and platforms to communicate and manage sales processes efficiently.

  • Able to connect and engage with agents and prospects through phone, email, and online chats in a fast-paced environment.

  • Capable of adjusting to changes quickly and demonstrating persistence in overcoming objections to close sales.

  • Understanding of commercial lines insurance products, underwriting, risk assessment, and the ability to educate clients on coverage needs.

  • General Lines P&C license, as well as prior Commercial Sales experience preferred.

As an Inside Sales Agent you will contact agents or prospects to sell commercial lines of insurance and increase awareness of the Nationwide brand. You will have an opportunity to provide an extraordinary agency or customer experience of small commercial lines products in all states and segments via outbound telephone contacts, inbound phone calls, email, on-line chats, or internal transfers. We'll count on you to provide counseling on insurance needs and product availability, provide quotes, determine eligibility, and bind coverage after collecting all related underwriting data and information. You'll be trained in writing business property, business liability, worker's comp, business auto, commercial umbrella insurance and bonds.

Job Description

Key Responsibilities:  

  • Responds to incoming calls/emails from commercial lines insurance agents or prospects and uses multiple internal and external resources and best practices to consult with and educate clients about coverage needs by performing duties such as: front end underwriting, risk assessment, financial analysis, and loss runs analysis in order to sell insurance. 

  • Offers additional Nationwide Insurance products to provide all applicable discounts.

  • Performs outbound calls and follow-up work to close the sale as stated in best practices.

  • Solicits outbound potential agents or customers who did not purchase during initial inquiry to overcome objections and complete the sale.

  • Interpret contracts and/or policy provisions for the most complex states in order to provide explanations and information to customers regarding coverage for all commercial and other product policies.  Determines and enters accurate information into all related systems.

  • Writes quality risk policies based on underwriting requirements; makes decisions by interpreting and using appropriate classification systems, rating plans, tiers, and selection standards; utilizes training and sales techniques to close the sale.
