Director, Software Engineering Operations

Exiger Product and Technology is an experienced team of software professionals with a wide range of specialties and interests. We make use of big data and natural language processing technologies as well as dealing with day-to-day application development and scaling issues. We utilize agile methodologies, iterate quickly to find solutions, and work together to ensure that the system evolves in a maintainable and performant fashion.
We are seeking a Software Engineering Operations Director to provide operational functions that optimize the intersection of product, engineering, infrastructure, app support and our business teams.
Engineering Ops responsibilities at Exiger:
- Orchestrate our quarterly segment planning process and rituals.
- Review, refine and manage the process to leverage key metrics aimed at ensuring healthy operations of the product development team.
- Own implementation of key tools that support the product development process including (or similar); ProductBoard, Pendo, and Pluralsight Flow
- Assist in getting our time to value for newly onboarded resources to be optimized by ensuring there is a clear process for tooling requests, system and environment access, integration into team ceremonies and secondary organizational onboarding curriculum.
- Be a touchpoint for the team - hear the team’s feedback on what is and isn’t going well, explore opportunities for additional support, tools, processes, etc., prioritize those opportunity areas and drive meaningful improvement. For example, lead quarterly retros on how things are going and push for the resolution of key issues identified.
- Own and manage SDLC operational sprint rituals and ensure adoption across POD’s.
- Work with head of engineering to understand patterns and opportunities for development.
- Assist in optimization of external contracted resources.
- Track and report on progress against quarterly commits and roadmap across the Product Team.
- Maintain our product charter that governs how our teams operate.
- Develop and monitor Product State of the Union analytics dashboards to track process / delivery, impact and product health.
Skills:
- 5 years+ experience in software engineering or other product development functional areas.
- A willingness to deliver uncomfortable feedback to senior or tenured employees in an effort to effect desired change
- Ability to work with teams in different geographic locations
- Ability to travel up to 2 times a month
- Demonstrate leadership capabilities to entice potentially skeptical partners on new ways to improve our operations
- Not afraid to coordinate large groups of people to facilitate and keep meetings on track
- Managed large team of 100 plus working teams
