Flex Staff - By Hour- Population Health Science & Policy

About the role

The Flex Staff Hourly employee is a variable one, ranging from entry level clerical support to professional (non-licensed), engaged by a department on an as-needed basis, compensated on an hourly basis. Flex Staff employees also include those who retired or terminated from a full-time position, brought back to perform their role on a part-time, temporary basis, often to support or orient the replacement employee.

This particular Flex Staff role will perform key biostatistical and data analysis tasks to support ongoing research projects.

Their responsibilities include:

  1. Data Analysis & Statistical Support
    1. Perform biostatistical analyses using R, Python, SQL, or other programming languages.
    2. Work with both basic and complex data sets, including cleaning, structuring, and analyzing data.
    3. Apply statistical methodologies to support epidemiologic and observational research.
    4. Develop, validate, and implement statistical models as needed.
  2. Research & Documentation
    1. Summarize analysis results in a clear and concise manner.
    2. Draft sections of research papers, grants, and reports based on findings.
    3. Maintain detailed records of analyses, datasets, and code to ensure reproducibility.
    4. Collaborate with research teams to interpret data and provide statistical insights.
  3. Programming & Data Management
    1. Develop scripts and functions in R for data manipulation and analysis.
    2. Utilize APIs and SQL for data extraction, transformation, and loading (ETL) processes.
    3. Implement automation tools to improve efficiency in data processing.
    4. Ensure compliance with data security and privacy standards.
  4. Collaboration & Communication
    1. Work closely with investigators, research staff, and collaborators to understand project needs.
    2. Present statistical findings and recommendations in a clear and professional manner.
    3. Provide guidance on statistical methods and best practices for research teams.
  5. Additional Contributions

    3. Stay updated on new statistical methods and programming tools relevant to the research.

 

  • Depending on the role, a minimum of a high school diploma or GED is required as per MS Health System hiring policy. Otherwise, Bachelors, Masters or Ph.D as applicable.
