Scope of Position 

Responsible for daily operations and support of Information Technology Layer 1 infrastructure and monitoring systems.  This position is in the Information Technology, Business Technology Services group and is committed to assisting The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center (OSUWMC) and its patients.

Position Summary 

Responsibilities include the daily oversite, administration, and detail-oriented project management of all complex and mission critical Layer 1 infrastructures including the structured cabling, and related power and physical systems in all telecommunications spaces and Data Centers. Closely work with all university business units and vendors for the detailed creation, budgeting, development/design, planning, implementation, integration, maintenance and support of all low voltage infrastructure systems on construction and renovation projects as well as IT initiatives to deliver a complete layer 1 transport system solution that supports all business technologies and functions while ensuring it meets all standards, regulations, compliances in accordance with the IT Building Design Standards.  Job functions include the management and maintenance of horizontal and backbone cabling including copper and optical fiber networks, the creation and review of detailed design documentation, minor and complex budget planning and management, generation of detailed scopes of work, following ITIL and Change processes, standards and code compliance, and design guidance and maintenance of power and uninterruptable power systems and ensuring quality control of all infrastructure elements.

Minimum Qualifications

For Hire:

  • Degree in Computer Science or related field, and or at least 5 years of equivalent experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. - Must possess excellent interpersonal communication skills; Working knowledge and practical application of Layer 1 systems; Working knowledge with project management practices; Working knowledge with electrical and environmental systems; Working knowledge with ITIL best practice guidelines desired.
