Summary
The Broward County Board of County Commissioners is seeking qualified candidates for the Accountant Senior (HOSS-D) position with the Human Services Department - Housing Options, Solutions, and Supports Division.
The Housing Options, Solutions, and Supports Division is seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Senior Accountant to drive the financial integrity of our housing programs. In this fast-paced role, you’ll manage complex reconciliations, review and approve high-volume fiscal transactions, oversee multimillion-dollar HUD drawdowns, and prepare critical federal, state, and County reports.
You’ll analyze financial data to support contract negotiations and funding reallocations, lead provider invoice review, develop grant budget forecasts, support major audits, and create polished financial materials for Board action. This position also plays a key role in developing fiscal policies, preparing annual reports, training staff in PeopleSoft, and ensuring full compliance across all grants and financial systems. The ideal candidate is a sharp, proactive financial expert who excels at managing detailed data, optimizing processes, and upholding accountability. This is a grant funded position.Advanced professional accounting work in the maintenance and review of fiscal records; may supervise staff.
Works independently, under limited supervision, reporting major activities through periodic meetings.
Requires a Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in accounting or finance; or a Bachelor's degree and coursework that qualifies for the CPA Examination.
Requires two (2) years of professional level accounting, finance or closely related experience; including six (6) months of lead/supervisory experience depending on area of assignment.
Valid Florida Driver's License
Master's Degree from an accredited college or university in accounting or finance
Doctoral Degree from an accredited college or university in accounting or finance
Certified Public Accountant (CPA)
Certified Grants Management Specialist (CGMS)
Advanced Excel Skills (Pivot Tables, Complex Formulas, Managing Multiple Spreadsheets)
1+ years of PeopleSoft Financial Application
1+ years of experience with U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) electronic Line of Credit Control System (eLOCCS)
1+ years of experience in homeless planning
