About the role

What You Can Expect

As Maintenance Engineer, in Garden City, NY you will be responsible for inspection and maintenance of rotating equipment, shop work such as drilling, tapping, cutting, welding work of various descriptions such as cutting, burning, TIG, MIG SMAW; pipe work and fabrication of all types and sizes such as PVC, black iron, solder joint copper, galvanized, tubing, stainless; mechanical alignment, level and balance as may be required.

 

Every day you will perform all duties consistent with safe work practices as is generally practiced in industrial environments and also in accordance with established Employer safety practices and regulations as delineated in the Employer’s Safety Manual.  You will be reporting to the Maintenance Manager.

 

 

What You’ll Bring

  • High school diploma or equivalent;
  • 2 years’ experience in power plant operations
  • You can implement and carry out required plant maintenance functions and repairs at various sites
  • Experience performing all required job functions without direct supervision
  • You have experience performing administrative functions as required by the Maintenance Management system, supervision, or others
  • You will perform preventive maintenance functions and tasks including but not limited to vibration monitoring, lubrication, inspection
  • You will coordinate with the activities of other maintenance and operational personnel as required and will be capable of conducting all necessary actions and functions independently and without direct supervision
  • You can fulfill the operational and maintenance requirements of the various plants and equipment including housekeeping
  • You will work overtime to cover vacations, illnesses, absences and other operational or maintenance requirements
  • You can train bargaining unit personnel not familiar with the plant to assist in their skill development

 

 

Additional Details

  • This role requires attendance at a worksite on a daily basis
  • Must possess a valid U.S. driver’s license/clean driving record; will drive company vehicle
  • Must be willing and able to comply with all ENGIE ethics and safety policies
  • This position consist of 25% of outdoor work, while performing the duties of this job, the employee is exposed to weather conditions

 

 

Compensation

Salary Range:  $60.91 USD hourly

Your position is part of a bargaining unit represented by IUOE-Local 30. Many of the terms and conditions of your employment, including but not limited to work scheduling, wages, vacation, sick leave, and other benefits, will be governed by a collective bargaining agreement (the “CBA”) between the Company and the union. 

 

 

ENGIE complies with all federal, state, and local minimum wage laws. Actual salary offered may vary depending on geography, experience, education, internal pay alignment, or other bona fide factors.
