JOB SUMMARY
The Paralegal will be assigned responsibilities involving legal research work, investigating facts, and preparing documents to provide technical legal assistance to all Attorneys within the Legal Division of the Oklahoma Tax Commission.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Provides support for attorneys; composes and prepares various legal documents, correspondence, and forms
- Researches legal data; prepares rough drafts and/or final forms of briefs and arguments
- Conducts investigations and compiles data for use in case preparation
- Answers inquiries concerning legal issues from the public and agency personnel
- Assists attorneys in ensuring that deadlines are met for court filings; files orders, judgments, pleadings, briefs and other documents on behalf of attorneys
- Provides file maintenance for hard copy and electronic files, including scanning case files, copying pleadings and maintaining case logs for review and action by attorneys
- Operates a variety of office equipment; screens phone calls and receives visitors; opens, reviews and distributes mail
- Processes incoming checks received by the Legal Division as assigned
- Assists with training and cross training of other Legal Division employees as requested
- Assists in projects as assigned
