What You Will Do

The Maintenance Storeroom Clerk oversees the parts management system to help support the daily execution of all maintenance activities in 225K sq ft. chemical manufacturing plant.  Working with the maintenance team leads and shift leads , s/he will maintain the parts management system and ensure that all parts and components are stocked and proper inventory is tracked to ensure the plant assets are maintained at their designed operating performance utilizing the most cost effective, safe and quality driven methods possible.  The storeroom clerk also ensures effective utilization of the Computer Maintenance Management System (CMMS), generates storeroom key performance indicators, and uses continuous improvement concepts to effect overall plant safety, product quality, and service. 

Inventory Management

  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date records, inventory, and stock levels of all parts, items, and components in the maintenance storeroom and other indirect items such as, but not limited to, PPE and packaging labels for the plant.
  • Monitor inventory levels and reorder supplies as needed to prevent stockouts. Enter inventory information into the computerized maintenance management system.
  • Operate other computer equipment to enter, organize, and retrieve data.
  • Categorize and label maintenance and repair parts for easy identification and retrieval. Excellent attention to detail and accuracy in record-keeping.
  • Transports materials throughout maintenance shop, yard and other storage areas, and between repair locations.
  • Order stock, non-stock, and stockless materials to meet maintenance requirements.

Receiving and Inspection

  • Receive and inspect incoming materials, verifying quantities and quality. Ability to lift and move heavy materials when required.
  • Collaborate with vendors and suppliers to order parts and to resolve discrepancies in deliveries.
  • Ensure that all received items are properly documented and recorded.
  • Ensure the proper tagging of defective materials.

Organization and Maintenance

  • Organize the maintenance storeroom for efficient storage and retrieval of materials utilizing 5S principles.
  • Implement and maintain a systematic shelving and labeling system. Strong organizational and multitasking abilities
  • Regularly conduct physical inventory counts to reconcile with records.
  • Clean storeroom areas and maintains location according to guidelines.

Communication

  • Communicate with maintenance shifts to understand their inventory needs and requirements.
  • Collaborate with purchasing and procurement personnel to coordinate deliveries and manage stock levels effectively. Effective communication skills to collaborate with various teams and vendors.

Problem-Solving

  • Address and resolve discrepancies in inventory count promptly.
  • Investigate and correct issues related to damaged or defective materials.
  • Work with cross-functional teams to solve problems related to inventory management.

Safety Compliance

  • Ensure that all safety protocols are followed when handling and storing materials.
  • Implement and adhere to safety guidelines for the storeroom environment.

Adherence to Procedures

  • Follow established procedures for receiving, storing, and issuing materials.
  • Continuously evaluate and suggest improvements to storeroom processes.

Minimum Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent
