SUMMARY
The Communications Intern supports the Director of Communications with planning, executing, and tracking initiatives across internal and external communications. This role contributes to efforts that strengthen employee engagement, support organizational alignment, and elevate brand presence. The ideal candidate is a strong writer and critical thinker, with excellent organizational skills, attention to detail, and a collaborative mindset. This internship offers hands-on experience across communication channels including email, newsletters, intranet content, digital and print collateral, and special projects. The Communications Intern plays an important role in helping one of the largest premier dermatology practices in the U.S. deliver impactful communication to key audiences.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
INTERNAL AND CORPORATE COMMUNICATIONS
• Draft, edit and proof content for internal newsletters, announcements, talking points, presentations, intranet posts, and leadership communications.
• Support execution of communication plans for key organizational initiatives (e.g., new programs, marketing campaigns, employee resource groups, or training rollouts).
• Help develop and maintain editorial calendar for internal channels.
• Ensure all communications reflect consistent brand voice, tone, and visual identity.
• Collaborate with HR, marketing team, designers, IT, operations, and other internal teams on large- and small-scale communications and marketing projects (e.g. newsletters, email campaigns, and digital and print media).
• Manage daily administrative tasks as needed to ensure the communications team runs smoothly.
• Develop and support strategies for monitoring and improving the employee experience.
EXTERNAL COMMUNIACTIONS AND MARKETING SUPPORT
• Contribute to public relations and storytelling efforts through research, content support, and coordination with PR agency.
• Assist in developing print and digital collateral (e.g., flyers, brochures, signage, email campaigns).
• Collaborate with marketing and design teams to execute promotional campaigns and events.
• Write, proofread, and edit materials for accuracy, clarity, and brand alignment.
• Support social media initiatives with content planning and writing.
RESEARCH, TRACKING, AND REPORTING
• Conduct market research to inform internal and external communications strategies.
• Monitor and summarize communication metrics, campaign engagement, and audience feedback.
• Help maintain internal databases, communication archives, and project trackers.
• Share weekly updates on key initiatives, progress, and learnings.

EDUCATION
• High School diploma or GED certificate
• 1-year experience in communications, marketing, or equivalent education
• Associate or bachelor’s degree in communications, marketing, business, English, journalism, or a related field a plus
