Position Summary
The mission of The Department of Urology at Weill Cornell Medicine is to provide our patients with effective and emerging new therapies in urologic care in a compassionate environment. We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Registered Nurse (RN) interested in quality and patient safety initiatives to ensure delivery of the highest quality of care to our patients.
Under guidance, the Clinical Quality & Patient Safety Manager will direct, plan, and execute ongoing clinical quality improvement projects designed to achieve goals in patient safety and clinical quality.
Schedule: Monday-Friday, 5 days per week. This is an onsite role with option for hybrid work following completion of 6 months of employment.
Job Responsibilities
- Generates, implements and supervises quality improvement initiatives with the goal of ensuring that there is quantifiable improvement as a result of the initiative.
- Analyzes quality data, interprets and explains results to physicians and relevant clinicians regarding the impact on legal and practice management concerns.
- Prepares standard scheduled reports and maintains a catalog of reports for distribution.
- Coordinates projects to minimize duplication of efforts across the institution.
- Manages the schedule of projects aggressively in order to meet target deadlines.
- Tracks issues as they arise and ensures resolution.
- Utilizes existing databases and/or develops and maintains new databases related to quality initiatives.
- Provides educational support and communication regarding clinical quality improvement, accreditation and progress of relevant quality initiatives.
- Ensures compliance with regulatory (federal, state and local) and institutional policies.
- Provides stakeholders with the status updates, issues, key activities and any changes to the scope of the overall project.
Education
- Bachelor's Degree in Nursing or related field
Experience
Bachelor's in Nursing. Master's degree preferred.
Current NYS RN licensure with approximately 5 years of RN experience
Experience as an RN in an academic hospital setting preferred
2+ years of project management experience in clinical quality program coordination including quality measurement techniques and report writing preferred
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to interact with all levels of an institution.
Licenses and Certifications
- Current NYS licensure/certification relevant to role is required.
