Accountant Senior CORP

As the Senior Accountant, your work includes, but is not limited to, working closely with the Assistant Controller assist with monthly, quarterly, and yearend closing processes, reconcile all corporate level tax activity by state, county, and cities and be responsible for the accurate, timely update for all tax registry and company set up per state as needed.  You will manage the Corporate Registry Inbox and partner across other departments to timely disseminate critical and time-sensitive documents. This position requires you to work independently.  This role also includes active participation in ongoing audits, self-audits, and financial analytics and reporting. 

Accounting:

• Assist with month-end, quarterly, and annual accounting close processes within the accounting system preparing reports such as balance sheets, profit/loss statements, and other documents.  
• Review financial statements for completeness, accuracy, and compliance
• Collect data and compile needed accounting reports and assist the Controller with accounting record management and retention in compliance with GAAP.
• May assist in the collection of financial data and prepare analytics for reporting on the forecast company business activity and financial position in the areas of income, expenses, earnings, and expected operational growth.
• Act as backup for a weekly check run process including banking interface for uploading files.
• Maintain accurate financial records.

Reporting & Audit:

• May be required to interface with our public accounting audit firm with Assistant Controller oversite.  
• Assist with the preparation of audited financial statements working with our public accounting auditors.
• Administer internal controls and audits of procedures intended to preserve the organization’s assets.

Registry:

• Independently manage registry service for S&K by actively registering new businesses and setting up state tax compliance.  
• Ensure S&K is current on all registrations.
• Compute, verify, and file tax compliance with each state.
• Fully responsible for the timely and accurate process to submit tax payments on state websites and verify amounts with Controller overview.
• Interface with Payroll to verify reporting requirements for Tax compliance.
• Prepare and provide timely delivery of incoming documents that belong to other departments such as ASG and HR.

Education

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting or related field required.

Experience

• Minimum 3 years of accounting experience required.
• Demonstrated proficiency in A/P, A/R, Bank Recs, Financial Reporting.
• Demonstrated proficiency in tax filing and Holding Companies within various jurisdictions. 
• Demonstrated proficiency in applying GAAP and applicable regulations.

License, Cert or Registration

• C.P.A. Preferred

• Must be very organized.
• Superior accuracy, attention to detail and organization skills required.
• Strong interpersonal skills required to interact effectively with a variety of customer groups and external vendor services.
• Experience with Microsoft Office apps and Microsoft 365.
• Use of Deltek/Costpoint strongly preferred.
• Strong analytical skills, technical accounting proficiency, effective problem-solving skills and strong ability to interpret accounting information/reports.
• Ability to work under pressure and cultivate and develop key relationships.
• Strong oral and written communication skills are required along with the ability to effectively interface with external contacts, internal management, and accounting and finance team.
