Illinois School Psychology Internship Consortium (ISPIC)

ISPIC is an APA-accredited program dedicated to offering doctoral psychology internships that train future professionals in acquiring broad-based clinical skills and competencies that are evidence-based, ethically sound, and culturally sensitive. The mission of ISPIC is to train interns who promote the highest quality educational and mental health services for children and families. The consortium is sponsored by 4 universities-- Illinois State University, Loyola University, Northern Illinois University, and The Chicago School. ISPIC has multiple Partnering Sites and provides approximately 15 intern positions each year.  To date, ISPIC has trained over 370 interns.  ISPIC has been a member of the Association of Psychology Postdoctoral and Internship Centers (APPIC) and accredited by the American Psychological Association (APA) for more than 20 years.

Since its inception in 2002, ISPIC has been hosted by Illinois University. Beginning July 1, 2025, The Chicago School will host the program on its Chicago campus. This is a full-time hybrid position based on the Chicago campus; it will involve some travel around the state.

Position Summary: Internship Training Director

The Illinois School Psychology Internship Consortium (ISPIC) Training Director has seven core responsibilities:

• The entire operation of the Consortium, where the Internship Training Director serves as Chair of the Consortium Governing Board;

• Coordination of the Consortium-wide planned, programmed sequence of training activities;

• The development of all site recruitment and application processes;

• Coordination of the intern recruitment, application process, and interviewing;

• Coordination of the evaluation process including intern, site, and Consortium;

• Communication and compliance with the APA (e.g., self-study, annual reports) & APPIC

• Financial oversight of funds to support operations

The ISPIC Training Director will also assist the Chicago School with the development of internship sites for a Clinical Psychology Internship Consortium in the greater Chicago area.

Position Qualifications:

• 2 years of professional experience in clinical practice, student training and supervision, consultation, project management or related fields

• Doctoral degree in School Psychology or relevant area of study

• Licensed or License Eligible in Illinois in either School or Clinical Psychology

• Ability to travel to academic and site locations

Preferred Qualifications:

• Doctoral level, dually-licensed psychologist (School & Clinical Psychology)

• 5 years of experience in clinical practice; student training and supervision; and consultation, program evaluation, and/or project management.

• Experience with APA accreditation process.
