BASIC FUNCTION:
Provides clinical care to the student population and assists as needed in front office functions.
SUPERVISORY ACCOUNTABILITY:
No supervisory function.
PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES:
- Assists clinicians with preparation, examination, and procedure, including performing patient history interviews to obtain personal data and chief complaints, documentation for records, and vital signs.
- Assists clinicians and administers treatments as prescribed by clinicians.
- Administers medications topically, sublingually, orally, and by injection as prescribed by the clinician.
- Conveys clinical information on behalf of the clinician.
- Performs lab and screening tests such as urinalysis, rapid strep tests, throat cultures, and COVID-19.
- Assists in the lab as needed.
- Front office responsibilities as assigned.
- Collects blood specimens via capillary and venipuncture techniques.
- Performs aseptic procedures such as wound care.
- Sets up, cleans, restocks, and prepares exam rooms.
- Communicates with patients regarding health prevention, health practices and self-care.
- Verifies compliance with state immunization requirements.
- Maintains confidentiality.
- Manages infection control using aseptic techniques, chemical disinfection, and correctly handling biohazardous materials.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.

- Ability to maintain quality, safety, and infection control standards.
- Ability to work collaboratively with SHC staff.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
Graduate from an accredited school of Medical Assisting. Current CPR/AED certification. Experience in a primary care outpatient setting preferred. Experience working with the college-age population, preferably at a campus health clinic, but not required.
