About the Role

You will report to a HW Technical Program Management lead and will interface with, hardware design, manufacture, operation, and supplier. In this role you will help build the next generation of robotic systems within DoorDash Labs from the ground up! We’re a team of people who live and breathe building robots and complex electromechanical systems. We’re unfazed by challenges or new problems and strive to build world class solutions.

  • Manage New Product Introduction (NPI) release activities, ensuring a seamless transition from in-house builds to high-volume production with contract manufacturers
  • Oversea a cross-functional team to design and release collaborative projects between internal and external engineering teams
  • Partner with manufacturing and supply chain teams to drive supplier development, ensure timely deliveries, and resolve issues to align with the overall product manufacturing schedule
  • Define manufacturing milestones and ensure alignment with broader product development timelines and objectives
  • Communicate project status and key updates in program and executive meetings.

  • Exceptional communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across teams and organizations in different geographies
  • Strong attention to detail, coupled with excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities
  • Proven experience working with contract manufacturers to support the transition of a new product to high-volume manufacturing
  • Familiar with typical hardware product development process (PDP) and product lifecycle management (PLM) system 
  • Previous experience contract manufacturing, e.g. automotive or consumer products 
  • Previous experience with various manufacturing methods, e.g. die-casting, injection molding, vacuum forming, or PCBA SMT
  • Demonstrated capability to handle ambiguity and provide constructive risk mitigation strategies
  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Physics, or a related technical field.
  • At least 7 years of industry experience
  • This role would require 20% to 30% travel to contract manufacturing sites.

Compensation

The successful candidate's starting pay will fall within the pay range listed below and is determined based on job-related factors including, but not limited to, skills, experience, qualifications, work location, and market conditions.  Base salary is localized according to an employee’s work location. Ranges are market-dependent and may be modified in the future.

In addition to base salary, the compensation for this role includes opportunities for equity grants. Talk to your recruiter for more information.
