Description

 

The University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB), Pediatric Neurosurgery, is seeking a Clinical Research Coordinator II.

General Responsibilities

  • To serve as coordinator for studies and provide support to other team members within the confines of the protocol as directed.

  • To support screening and participant eligibility determination, working with more senior team members to ensure compliance.

  • To conduct activities in accordance with the protocol, regulations and Good Clinical Practice (GCP).

  • To assist with the study life cycle from start-up to closure, i.e., collecting and recording data, recruiting and performing follow-up with participants, scheduling visits and assisting in coordination of lab and fieldwork.

Key Duties & Responsibilities

  1. Serves as the primary coordinator for clinical research studies within the Department of Neurosurgery's Pediatric Neurosurgery Division, providing operational and administrative support to investigators, physicians, and research staff in accordance with study protocols.

  2. Coordinates patient screening, recruitment, informed consent, and eligibility determination while ensuring compliance with Institutional Review Board (IRB) requirements, Good Clinical Practice (GCP), HIPAA, and all applicable regulatory standards.

  3. Manages clinical research activities throughout the study lifecycle, including participant enrollment, study visits, data collection, regulatory documentation, and coordination of imaging, laboratory, and clinical procedures.

  4. Supports investigators by maintaining study records, facilitating monitoring visits, and promoting efficient, compliant research operations that advance high-quality pediatric neurosurgery clinical research.

  5. Performs other duties as assigned.

Annual Salary Range:   $50,050 - $81,330

 

Qualifications

 

Bachelor's degree in a related field and three (3) years of related experience required. Work experience may substitute for education requirement.

Preferences

  • Comprehensive understanding of related scientific and clinical terminology, organizational and interpersonal skills, ability to problem-solve, written and verbal communication skills, understanding of clinical research conduct according to GCP.

  • Clinical research experience, knowledge of clinical research regulatory/compliance affairs, organizational skills, ability to work as part of the team, as well as independently with minimal supervision, and ability to walk at least one mile a day and lift up to 15 pounds.

  • Knowledge of study protocols and adherence to GCP, IRB, and sample-handling safety requirements.
