This leader provides expert guidance on evidence-based practices, regulatory compliance, and outbreak response, while partnering with clinical and operational teams to reduce healthcare-associated infections and promote patient and staff safety; collaborates with internal leadership and external agencies to strengthen infection prevention infrastructure and readiness for emerging infectious threats.

Key Relationships

Reports to: Vice President, Chief Quality Officer

Candidate Qualifications

Candidates for the position will be evaluated according to the following criteria and competencies.

  • Master’s degree in healthcare, allied health, or public health is required

  • Doctorate degree in healthcare, allied health, business or public health or equivalent is preferred 

  • Requires clinical or equivalent plus at least 5-10 years of experience working in infection prevention.

  • Requires an active Registered Nurse (RN) or similar clinical license in the state of Indiana or an active Nurse Licensure Compact (NLC) RN license.

  • Requires certification in Infection Control.

  • Requires extensive experience in infection prevention, including leadership, consultation, communication, team building, strategic planning and quality and process improvement strategies.

  • Requires advanced knowledge of quality management tools and techniques.

  • Requires the ability to facilitate/ lead quality improvement initiatives and work groups.

  • Requires strong interpersonal, communication, written, verbal and analytical skills.

  • Requires independent judgment, and the ability to take initiative and meet objectives.

  • Requires strong customer service skills and the ability to communicate sensitive issues across all levels of the organization.

  • Requires demonstrated leadership skills (inspiring; problem solving; marketing ideas; negotiating; communicating across multiple organizations; executing).

  • Requires ability to manage matrix reporting relationships.

  • Requires flexible work schedule and travel throughout the state.
